“They Can’t Shame Us” is an original work in Madeline K Barry’s 2021 Holiday Collection. This collection is an exploration into the concept that Love Incarnate chose to inhabit the body of a woman.

“The very force of Love, alive in a woman.

What a concept.

The very epitome of truth, living so closely in tandem with the feminine soul.

The Being that would change history forever took the form of embryo, got his nutrients from his mother’s placenta.

To me, there’s no doubt this God cares for women, desires to be close to us, understands our multi-faceted wonder, comprehends our anatomy at its most complicated level.

He chose to inhabit a body raging with hormones and tears and bodily fluids.

Why do we shame these bodies? Why do we allow others to tell us they are too loose, too soft, too strong, too big, too frail, too distracting?

These bodies are life givers. Whether through our wombs, or through our hands as they work to chase our dreams, or our mouths as we speak our truth, or or through our hips as we sway to melodies that enrapture us. Our very beings, they are teeming with life.

Worthy of being shared, experienced in their fullness.
