“This piece is part of my collection titled "The Breaking". In this collection, I've explored the themes of heartbreak and disappointment as it relates to the female experience and feminine form. I have layered vibrant abstract backgrounds with dark figures and portraits to reflect the chaos and paradox of emotions and thoughts that swirl through our beings as we experience a life changing event. The raw marks and unfinished style of the drawings mirror the raw states of our hearts in hard times. Things change us. We have such little control over what happens to us, but we have all the power in the world to determine how those things shape us.”
